Sarah

Hello! I am Sarah and I am a BACP registered counsellor.

My baseline is, whatever someone is bringing to the space is honoured and, the aim, for a connection to be made.

The first step to counselling can be daunting, it is natural to be nervous meeting someone new at any time, I certainly feel that too. I am genuinely curious about people though and everything which is important to them: the whole person and their world. I am very relaxed and relational in my approach. It is you and me, in a relaxed space unpacking and discovering how best to work together. No ego. No pressure. It has to be right. The relationship in therapy is the cornerstone and, in my opinion, the most important part.

I am here to be alongside you, point out things along the way, help with tools and techniques if needed, acknowledge just how overwhelming things can be and to champion you. To help you find your voice and autonomy. Holding a space for you to be seen and heard. I have had the immense privilege throughout my career, to work with adults and children from lots of diverse backgrounds and areas and specifically in the last four years working with complex trauma and specifically those fleeing domestic abuse and displacement.

When life uproots or turns upside down it can be extremely hard to see the wood for the trees. You have the tools inside you, sometimes we all just needs a little assistance to find them or how to use them. Alongside some patience and compassion.

I have always considered it an absolute privilege and honour to be able to meet someone where they are at, support them wherever they are at and wherever they want to go, without judgement, for them to find a way towards how they want life to be and who they are, as a whole person. I would love to support you.

A Little bit about me
I moved from London as a child to the Kent Coast, returning to the big smoke for university before resettling on the Kent Coast again and raising a family. There is something about living next to water, for it is about feeling whole and peace. Not quite in the league of Moana, but I get the vibe. Family and friends are hugely important to me, as well as being out and about in nature. I also enjoy any opportunity to cosy up with an enjoyable book if time allows! I have a natural curiosity of the world, people and how we work as a whole: holistically and socially, as well as historically. I love a nosey around old buildings and architecture and the people who lived in them.
